Bradenton Real Estate, Homes and Condos For Sale From Barry Grooms Realtor Keller Williams Realty

Often described as a "quaint little drinking village with a fishing problem", the Village of Cortez offers slice of rustic Old Florida. Just over the intercostal waterway from Anna Maria Island and the Western most point of the mainland it is a charming and welcoming to everyone.
There are many historic clapboard bungalows on narrow roads lined with palm trees and live oaks.  Know as the "Kitchen" the waterfront is home to some of Floridas finest seafood houses like A.P. Bell and Star Fish Company, with fresh catches of grouper, snapper, shrimp, stone crab and pan fish can be purchased fresh off the boats. Cortez produces approximately 25% of the fish caught on the Gulf coast and you can get it at its freshest point.

You can dine dockside on the rustic picnic tables at Star Fish Company restaurant and enjoy a panorama of fishing boats and seagulls and pelicans sitting atop pylons, while digging into an order of mullet or conch fritters, washed down with draft beer from a plastic cup.  Named after the body of water it abuts the Cortez Kitchen is adjacent to A.P. Bell Fish Company and has a long menu of fresh seafood from the Gulf, one dish you cant pass up is the Cortez hotdog with a side of cheese grits! You will also want to visit famous Annie's Bait and tackle and enjoy a delicious Cuban sandwich and a cold beverage. Annie's is a saloon like no other: a weather-beaten, ramshackle place that sells everything for the angler, plus beer, wine and seafood. It's a great place to meet the locals.
